Funded volunteering opportunity at the University of Brest – student life, event management and communication

The University of Brest (UBO)  is recruiting 2 volunteers from SEA-EU countries for the academic year 2023-2024 (around 8 months).

Starting/ending dates: September 2023- may 2024 (exact dates to be precised during the interview).

Indicative working hours: Monday/Friday, 9am-5pm. The working hours won’t exceed 30h, including language lessons and collective projects. Occasional work in the evenings, depending on the events.

Main objective: The main objective of the project is to work on the internationalization of the campus

– Work interactions with
i) the DEVE / PEPSE / SUAPS teams *
ii) the SEA-EU Office, according to specifical projects and events linked SEA-EU students or events
iii) the international students community.

– The volunteer will also be encouraged to propose a personal project with the other European volunteer hosted at UBO and will participate in a collective project about Europe together with the other European volunteers hosted in Brest.

Main activities:
– Communication on international issues: creation of materials, photos, videos, creation of content for social networks, etc.
– International and European identity events (ie: participation in the animation of the international community: involvement in Erasmus Days, events to promote student cultures, involvement in SEA-EU events…)
– Contribute to the animation of the international community of the campus
– Contribute to the Erasmus actions to promote mobility
– Contribute to SEA-EU dynamic on the campus, ie. raise awareness on European Opportunities and European Identity

Training opportunities:
The volunteer will have free access to the sports offer by the university sports service ( + 50 different activities)
The volunteer will be offered to take part to language lessons + DELF certification

Profile of the volunteer:
Person socially at ease, eager to interact with students
Person with a creative mind, interested and practicing photography, video, graphic design, etc.
Person at ease with social networks
Person willing to learn about project coordination, event management

Knowledge of English is essential, French would be a real plus since the proportion of the teams speaking English is low.
The volunteer has to be ready and motivated for a full french-speaking working environment.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            Free participation to a one-week intensive french course (end of august) can be proposed to the volunteer on the project period.

Hosting conditions:
Travel costs, insurance and local transportation covered according ESC and E+ regulations
Accomodation in a student’s residence covered, individual room.
Monthly allowance of +/- 400€ (according European Solidarity Corps rates)
Local transportation pass paid by the university
French lessons included (2 hours a week)
